Data Collecting Requirements

More and more requirements come up, to collect data from retailers to calculate revenue dependent shop rents or marketing activities and for administrative and control purposes from government departments.

Mall owners want to control and support their clients (Retailers) and government institutions want to watch, control and limit the price level of specific items, especially in the food area, and limit the prices and the promotions.
This leads to necessities, we nowadays only face in fiscal countries. The Retailers have to open their secured network infrastructure and publish basic information they nowadays hide.
The Retailer has 2 possible ways to fulfill this kind of needs:

  1. Transmit the necessary information directly to the Mall owner or government agency.

Such a solution may interfere with company policies and security aspects.
In addition it requires adaptations to the existing environment, changes in the POS program, setup of additional resources, etc.
Such a solution moves the task and responsibilities mainly to the retailer and creates less effort for the requesting party. Such a solution cannot be enforced, except by law or dedicated contract.

  2. Give access to the required information to a 3. Party application which grabs the data and transfers it to the requesting party.

This kind of solution would keep company policies and security aspects untouched.
The additional environment and solution has to be provided by the requesting party, but has to be negotiated with the retailer. In addition the data formats and communication may differ from retailer to retailer, which dramatically increases the efforts to implement them.
